Celebration Packaging has added red and green double-walled hot drink cups to its range of renewable food and beverage packaging to celebrate the holidays, highlighting their compostability or recyclability at the end of their use.
Available in 8-ounce and 12-ounce sizes, the cups are made from FSC-certified paper and lined with a PLA plant starch moisture barrier. They are designed to insulate hot drinks while fitting comfortably in the consumer's hand.
According to Celebration Packaging, the cups are part of the EnviroWare range of food and beverage packaging made from natural, renewable materials that are certified for recycling in standard paper mills or commercial composting in accordance with DIN EN 13432:2000-12.
Customers can also choose from straw dome lids made from CPLA and bagasse.

Nick Burton, managing director of Celebration Packaging, said: "New for Christmas 2024, these new designs are perfect for serving festive takeaway hot drinks. Customers can choose between classic holly green and vibrant Santa red, as well as white Christmas icons. These new Christmas cups are being launched under our EnviroWare brand, so it's no surprise that as well as the fun, festive designs, they also score highly for sustainability. When we founded the EnviroWare brand 17 years ago, our stated mission was to find more sustainable packaging solutions. We've always believed that when sourcing sustainable packaging, the origin of the raw material is vital, but ensuring it is disposed of properly at the end of its use is just as important. Celebration Packaging always invests in certifications that we take very seriously, so when we make environmental and sustainability claims, we can always back them up. This sets us apart from many competitors, while also giving our customers the confidence to help them on their sustainability journey. With certifications from reputable and established companies, we can confirm that the products we sell are: suitable for direct contact with food and drink; made from sustainable resources where applicable; suitable for recycling or can be composted industrially or at home. With hot drinks being the biggest seller on takeaways in winter, it's really heartwarming to add some festive flair while making a sustainable choice. "
This development follows the launch of Celebration Packaging's tamper-proof containers made from 30% recycled PET. The solution is designed to protect sandwiches, salads and prepared foods, while unlocking recyclability and avoiding the plastic packaging tax.
In Christmas news, Nestlé has unveiled its 2024 personalised gift bag range, limited edition tins and biscuit designs, and a pick-and-mix refill option exclusively for John Lewis shoppers.
Other renewable cups launched this year include eGreen's VeriGreen range, which uses bio-based polypropylene and recycled vegetable oils from the hospitality industry; and the cold drink compostable cups trialled by Huhtamaki and Starbucks, which are made from a double-walled paperboard cup with a bioplastic liner and a moulded fibre lid.
