Green and environmentally friendly packaging, conform to the development of the times!

Why do we need environmentally friendly materials?

With the increasing international call for protecting the environment, caring for the earth, and saving resources, the international market has more and more stringent requirements for product packaging. On the other hand, in China, there was a "double carbon" strategy to advocate a green, environmentally friendly and low-carbon lifestyle, and then there was a "plastic ban" promulgated more and more strictly.

What is eco-friendly packaging?

Environmentally friendly packaging generally refers to packaging that can save energy, and is easy to recycle and decompose naturally after use, and does not pollute the environment. At this stage, the most widely used ecological and environmental protection material in our country's packaging industry is paper, which is also a traditional packaging material with Chinese characteristics, with a wide range of resources and can be recycled and reused, compared with other packaging materials, the pollution to the environment is low, and it is an ecological packaging material in the true sense.

Recyclable Packaging Box 04

The types of environmentally friendly packaging can be divided into three categories: recyclable, recyclable and degradable:

(1) Recyclable packaging The common recyclable packaging is corrugated boxes, pulp molded containers and paper containers. They are lightweight, easy to transport, and are widely used in the packaging of small everyday products. After these paper packaging are recycled, they are processed through processes such as softening, shredding, and cleaning, and are recycled for new uses. Most paper packaging can eventually be naturally degraded, and the best way to dispose of it is to make compost from unreusable raw materials instead of direct landfills to avoid toxic biogas generated by landfill fermentation.

(2) Recyclable packaging Recyclable packaging is the most environmentally friendly packaging form, but it has certain limitations for many commercial fields. Common recyclable packaging includes: recyclable milk bottles, glass bottles, wooden pallets, large containers, gas cylinders and large plastic containers, etc., these packaging concepts are very in line with the current trend of circular economy, greatly reducing consumption and packaging costs, but also relying more on consumer consciousness and packaging life.

(3) Degradable packaging Degradable packaging is the most ideal environmentally friendly packaging. At present, the most common types of packaging are express foam fillers, express envelopes, plastic bags, and "mushroom packaging boxes" made of mycelium. The biggest feature of this type of packaging is that it is faster and easier to degrade naturally than petrochemical plastics that caused white pollution in the past, whether it is composted or landfilled, which greatly reduces the burden on the environment.

Benefits of eco-friendly packaging

(1) Reduced carbon footprint If your packaging is produced from recycled materials, its carbon footprint will be greatly reduced. Similarly, if the packaging is produced from natural materials such as bamboo or FSC-approved paper or cardboard, the expansion of such products actually removes carbon from the atmosphere. If you want your company to be carbon neutral, eco-friendly packaging is the way to go.

(2) Biodegradable If the packaging is made up of natural materials, then it will be biodegradable. Plastics are difficult to biodegrade; It can take hundreds or even thousands of years to decompose, releasing dangerous compounds in the process. Some eco-friendly packaging, such as those made from sustainable paper, may even be compostable. Some eco-friendly packaging, such as those made from sustainable paper, may even be compostable.

(3) Easy to handle Most companies and regions have specific recycling or disposal facilities or services. Recycling is now fairly simple, as long as you separate disposables so that they can be recycled properly.

(4) No dangerous toxins The extraction, refining, distribution, use and disposal of unsustainable petrochemical resources (such as crude oil used to make most plastics) are extremely harmful to the environment. During its use, environmentally friendly packaging does not have these problems. During the biodegradation process, there are no harmful chemicals like plastics produced.

(5) Easy to reuse or recycle The ability of packaging to be recyclable or reused contributes to its environmental protection. Promoting the reuse of packaging can extend its lifespan, minimizing the need for new materials and the carbon footprint of the packaging. If the packaging quality is high enough, it should be possible to reuse the packaging for further packaging, storage and even crafts.
